Water Damage to a Wood Floor
If you’ve never seen it before, the picture to the right illustrates some pretty severe signs of water damage to a wood floor. Here you clearly see the black marks at the end of the board and also along the sides and the ends of the individual pieces, or staves, within the board. If you look to the right of the dark blemish, you’ll also notice a long crack in the center of the stave. Both of these indicate that water has permeated these boards. A little more time and you will notice complete separation of the staves within the boards.
This photo of water damage represents the extreme, and water has been either a recurrent problem here, or water has been allowed to sit on this spot for a number of days. Unfortunately, the water damage in this area is so severe that there’s little that can be done to it but remove the damaged boards.
