Poured Court

Project Overview

Christ the King Church School, one of the largest private schools in the area, had used their gym for decades for a variety of activities, including school assemblies, community meetings, and fish fries. The gym featured VCT tiling, which was functional for diverse events but not ideal for students playing court sports.

Client’s Vision

The client wanted a gym floor that could still accommodate assemblies, banquets, and other events, while providing a surface more suited for sports that could withstand heavy use—including chairs, tables, and even high heels.

Our Goal

To provide a durable, multi-functional gym floor that supported both athletic activities and community events, while reflecting the school’s identity.

Strategy

We measured all playground equipment and determined that covering the entire playground with a poured material would be most effective. This material, made from reground tires and coated with a durable, colorized top layer, was tested and approved to handle falls from heights of up to 12 feet.

Solution

Existing VCT flooring was removed (the school contracted this prior to our arrival).
The poured court was installed over the prepared surface, with careful attention to detail to accurately reproduce the school’s center logo.
The installation process took approximately a week and a half, ensuring a precise, high-quality finish.

Transformation

Before the project, the gym had a worn VCT floor that was not ideal for sports, though it accommodated multi-purpose activities. After installation, the gym features a colorful, durable poured court that enhances safety for athletes and expresses the school’s identity visually. The surface continues to support assemblies, fish fries, and other events, and any future wear or fading can be addressed with cost-effective recoating, including updated logos and graphics.

Conclusion
